Hello! Thank you for downloading Shoujo Attack! Lemma Soft aims to make games that are fun, unique (well, usually =:p), and free. However, there are some basic rules you need to follow to use this software:

* By using this software, you agree that its creators WILL NOT be held liable for any damage that may occur. This program is certainly not intended to harm computers, and it doesn't to the knowledge of the makers. But since we live in a sue-happy world, the makers feel the need to "cover their butts", so to speak. You use this program at your own risk!

* You may distribute this game privately, but if you wish to post it on the Internet, you must get permission from Scott King (Blue Lemma, Lemma Soft). Also, don't take credit for making this game if you didn't make it!

* When distributing or using the software, all files must be kept together, just like they were downloaded from Lemma Soft. (In other words, include this file if you give the game to anyone, and don't use the sound effects for anything else.)

* Consider visiting http://www.lemmasoft.net and the forums there for more good fun! =:-D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: This game utilizes some elements of code from other sources outside of Lemma Soft:

Some sound effects from: Cosmi Corporations 6000 Sound Effects CD
Font Rendering: AllegroFont 2001, 2002 Javier Gonzalez: based on the FreeType Project, 1996-2000 by David Turner, Robert Wilhelm, and Werner Lemberg

JPEG Decoding: JPEGalleg by Angelo Mottola
Programming Library:  Allegro

It also uses fonts and music not created by Lemma Soft. See the font files for more details. Lemma Soft does not claim ownership or credit for these works. This program was developed using Dev-Cpp and MinGW.

The music used in levels No Problem!, The Happy Bridge, Ozurr's Christmas, and the level select screen is by Lyndonpro.
The music used in the tutorial levels is by Aaron Gallant.
All of the other music is by Helen Trevillion.
Thanks a lot for letting me use your tunes, everyone!

The background seen in "Guns and Robots" was modified from a photo from optimus160.

Also, thanks to ery, K8e, chrono_luminaire, optimus160, batpig, and Gothik Mage for their encouragement, support, and ideas! Thanks to Mari-chan for loving the menu picture so much (j/k) =:p Thanks to the other Lemma Soft fans out there, too!

Shoujo Attack! is a Lemmings and anime/fan culture tribute and parody.
If you like this game, I recommend buying Lemmings series games from Psygnosis =:) (I have no affiliation with them, for the record.)
Save those cute shoujos from the tentacle monster, and be sure to enter the New Shoujo Attack! Contest =:)

           - January 2, 2004 Scott King ("Blue Lemma", Lemma Soft)

-----------------------------------------------------
Basic things you should know when playing the game:
-----------------------------------------------------
* The 'P' key will pause the game. This is very useful - I keep a finger on the P key all the time =;)

* The Escape key will return to the main menu (level selection screen) or restart the current level (game mode).

* You need to double-click the restart and tentacle buttons in the lower right-hand corner to activate them! A single click just won't do it.

* To get the password to enter the contest, you need to save all 30 shoujo in all 5 New Contest levels. It IS possible!

* Only the feet of the shoujo are what counts... That's where the collision-detection is. You'll see what I mean when you play the game :)

* Most levels are bigger than the screen, so move the cursor to the edge of the screen to scroll!

* Your progress will be automatically saved.

* You can only give shoujos tasks when they are on the ground.

* If shoujos walk off of the playing area, they die!

* Play the levels as many times as you like. Only your best scores will be saved.

-----------------------------------------------------
The Shoujo Channels:
-----------------------------------------------------
Shoujo Attack! is divided up into channels - groups of levels with the same theme. You will need to complete the Family, Goddess, Ren'ai, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Sexy channels to beat the game! When you save a shoujo from one level in a channel, it will be able to go to the next level. The goal is to get as many of the shoujos to the end in each channel as you can (thereby letting them escape the tentacle monster.) It's possible to rescue them all!

* Tutorial (Difficulty Rating: 0/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus: 150)
This is a great place to start. It will teach you the basics of rescuing shoujos! There are only 5 shoujos here instead of 30 like the other channels.

* Family (Difficulty Rating: 1/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus: 250)
These shoujos are all about friendship and happy times! Expect easy and relaxed levels here.

* Goddess (Difficulty Rating: 2/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus: 400)
Goddesses pop up a lot in anime and manga, don't they? Shoujos in the Goddess channel live in the sky and love to use supernatural powers.

*  Ren'ai   (Difficulty Rating:  3/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus:  500)
Meaning "romantic love", Ren'ai shoujos often spend their time daydreaming about cute shounen (boys). There are hearts and flowers everywhere in their world!

*  Sci-Fi   (Difficulty Rating:  4/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus:  600)
These shoujos are living in a futuristic world, using robots and traveling through space. Too bad they don't have an anti-tentacle monster robot ^_^

* Fantasy (Difficulty Rating: 5/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus: 1000)
Fantasy channel shoujos feel like they're in a big role-playing game. Some are demons, some are samurais, and some are summoners!

* Sexy (Difficulty Rating: 3/5, Perfect Rescue Bonus: 400)
For some reason, the Sexy channel has giant scantily-clad anime girls that the shoujos can walk on! Strange, huh? =;)

*  Demo   (Difficulty Rating:  ?/5)
These are the original Shoujo Attack! Demo levels. Can you beat them?

* New Contest (Difficulty Rating: ?/5)
If you rescue all of the shoujos in these levels, you will get a password. See the Lemma Soft website for more info! Contest ends February 16, 2004.

*  ?????
This channel is very odd...

-----------------------------------------------------
Shoujo Points:
-----------------------------------------------------
You get shoujo points for rescuing shoujos in each level (except for the Tutorial, Demo, New Contest, and Bonus levels.) Harder channels will give more shoujo points than easier channels. If you rescue all of the shoujos in all the levels for a channel, you will receive the Perfect Rescue Bonus! (Except for Demo, New Contest, and Bonus channels)

You can unlock channels when you gain shoujo points!

-----------------------------------------------------
Tasks and Skills:
-----------------------------------------------------
You can learn the tasks and skills by practicing using them. They're not too hard to figure out =;)
See the tutorial and the Lemma Soft website for information.

-----------------------------------------------------
Troubleshooting:
-----------------------------------------------------
If the game doesn't start (you get a black screen and then it quits) try changing the color depth of your desktop. Right-click on the desktop, select "Properties", and select the settings tab. The game tries to run in a DirectX high color fullscreen mode, so pick a different high color/true color mode.

If you have other problems, please post on the Lemma Soft Bugs and Support Forum:
http://www.lemmasoft.net/forums

I will do my best to help you, but please be as specific about the problem as you can. It also helps to read related posts first, because there's a good chance that someone else had the same problem and I gave a reply there.
